Nanpantan Cubs at County Cub Camp

19 June 2012

Over 20 Cubs from Nanpantan descended to the Oaks Campsite with over 450 other Cubs from across Leicestershire to take part in an action packed weekend of activities. They arrived Friday evening (after a little bit of queuing due to traffic and then a bit of a climb to the top of the hill) clean and all excited.

After the opening ceremony, Cubs played a wide game to get to know the other Cubs from different districts – then it was supper and then bed. It was a while before some vague silence actually materialised across the campsite. This was short lived as dawn was fast approaching.

Following breakfast and flag break, activities commenced. Cubs were assigned activities to do every hour (based on their choices earlier in the year). Activities included body zorbing, backwoods cooking, fire lighting, fencing, sailing, canoeing, geocaching, shooting, climbing, karaoke plus many more. Despite the weather,  most of the activities went ahead but the campsite did become a bit of a mud bath.

Many thanks goes to the County for putting on the activities and for Danielle and Lisa for organising the Loughborough Contingent.

There are some photos from the weekend on Leicestershire Scouts website here.
