The Day the Olympic Torch Came to Town

25 October 2012

Our Scouts managed to get a closer look at the Olympic torch last week. Mr Goodwin, the Chief Executive of Tamworth Borough council, visited our Scouts and talked about the day the torch came to Tamworth and the Castle Grounds on Saturday 30th June. He showed a DVD to our Scouts explaining about the day and there was also a quiz, to make sure they listened! Over 40,000 people came to see the torch. Besides seeing the torch, there was also family fun activities including music, crafts and for people to try Olympic Sports.

Father Michael White lent Mr Goodwin his torch to show our Scouts. We also had a number of Scouts were invested. Take a look at the photos:

Many thanks to Father Michael White for allowing us to see the torch and to Mr Goodwin for coming to talk to us about the day.
